In 1468, Henry VIII Tudor married Elizabeth of York, daughter of Edward IV and niece of Richard III, the king who had been defeated by Tudor in the Battle of Bosworth.
With this wedding the conflict of the War of the Roses was over, because Elizabeth was a York and Henry a Lancaster from the side of his mother, the three-times widowed Margaret Beaufort.
